Early Life

The parents of Kale Ikarus were both from the planet of Corellia and lived in the metropolitan city of Coronet. The mother, named Hadriel, was a reputable lawyer widely known on some of the largest courts on Corellia. The father named Bail Ikarus, was a bureaucrat with a respected position within the government. This prominent family had everything to be perfect. Wealth, power and a favorable position within Corellian Society. But their relationship as a married couple was not so good. After a year of constant arguments, Hadriel was the first to file for a divorce. fights in the court were so intense that trials had to be postponed several times. But in the end Hadriel was the one to win the case because of her fame and talent in the court of law. She was the one to win the custody of 4 years old Kale.

Lost

A year later, things had pretty much calmed down and Hadriel, at some point, accepted to let Kale spend a weekend or two with his father. One night at home, Bail received an unknown distress signal from a messenger droid. Not wanting to leave Kale alone, he took Kale along with him. Before reaching their landspeeder they got ambushed by an assassin, probably hired by some of Bail's political enemies. Bail took a blaster shot right on the chest and died instantly. The assassin spared Kale probably because he was not on the contract. Kale panicked and ran away from his father's body and got lost in the dark alleys of Coronet. Five years old, Kale, hungry, cold and with no where to go, sat down against the wall of some building and started crying. Few minutes later he was approached by a two suspicious figures, who promised him they would take him home. Kale accepted knowing he didn't have any other choice. Once they took Kale aboard their ship, one of them put him to sleep. It turned out they were slavers looking for easy prey. and easy prey they found.

The Beginning as a Slave

The slavers took Kale to the planet of Tatooine, to one of the most notorious crimelords on the planet, Zorba the Hutt. Zorba the Hutt was very wealthy and his main source of income was a gambling place in some underground facility, very close to his palace, called "The Pits". There slaves fought to entertain the wealthy corrupted sentients of the Galaxy, and on rare occasions there were even fights to the death. These were the fights that brought big profits to the Hutt's criminal organization. Zorba was very displeased with the ignorance of those two slavers. He wanted strong adults, capable of fighting, not children. They were both killed for offending Zorba. The crimelord took quite some time considering whether to kill or keep the young boy. Eventually, he decided to keep him as a slave and assigned him to one of his loyal smugglers to help with whatever tasks he could. His name was Erom Roolek, a Rodian Smuggler. Even though most of his duties were in cleaning the ship and helping with the maintenance, for the five years spent with him the Rodian taught Kale how to pilot the ship, steal and smuggle goods.

Welcome to The Pits

When Kale was 11, Zorba requested that Erom bring the slave back to his underground facility. The Hutt had new plans for Kale. He decided to train him to become a Pit fighter. After 5 years of painful training with the guards, at the age of 16, Kale was ready to fight in the Pits. Many defeats in the beginning brought disappointment to Zorba who had great faith in him. Zorba's disappointment made him become impatient and sent Kale to his first Fight to the Death event. Kale was overwhelmed with fear, more than ever before. It was now, the moment to kill or be killed, that a choice needed to be made. But his survival instinct, chose for him instead. He managed to kill the other slave with a vibro sword, driven by his hatred. The restless fear that was in his heart for many years, was gone in a single moment. The moment he took that slave's life, that single stroke. That overflowing hatred made him never again hesitate and ultimately led him to victory. From that moment onward, Kale knew what to do.

The Eye

Five years later, Kale had become one of Zorba's most valuable assets. He made Zorba even richer. and he had become a true champion of the Pits. But all the winnings made Kale grew arrogant. and when Kale messed with one of Zorba's Elite Guard on the way back to his cell, the fight cost Kale a very high price - his right eye. When Zorba found out he became furious with the Elite Guard for permanently damaging his asset, and ordered that he sliced his right eye himself as punishment. Kale was whipped as soon as he was released from the infirmary with a Neuronic whip - 10 times as punishment for instigating the fight. After a while, Zorba made a deal with Kale. The crime boss had recently acquired a very unique cybernetic implant that would partially restore his right eye. This piece of technology came straight from the Imperial Research Division. It was made of 2 separate pieces. A prosthetic eye and a goggle device. The eye by itself was useless, but when the device was attached to it, it became functional. Luckily, it could also be detached. This would make Kale's life much easier, or so he believed. Now the deal was that if Kale was able to win the next deathmatch with a very notorious fighter, in which everyone was going to bet on, he would not only hire a former MedTech Industry Scientist to perform the surgery, but he would strip the title of slave from Kale and make him a member of his Personal Guard. It was the deal of a lifetime and Kale accepted it outright.

The Mask

The day came and Kale was, after having trained hard and adapted his fighting style with one eye, ready for the fight. He could not afford to lose. After enduring so much he could finally, at the age of 21, get rid of his slave title. And he did not lose. He was badly injured, but succeeded in killing his opponent. This brought Zorba enormous profits. He kept his word hired the MTI scientist, who was familiar with cybernetic implants, to perform the operation. After the operation was concluded, Kale regained consciousness, still blind on his right eye, feeling a bit dizzy, but alive. The scientist then slowly attached the goggle device on Kale's right eye, and he felt a sudden painful electrical surge going straight trough his brain. The device then activated and a light started to glow red. It was a success, Kale could see again trough his right eye. Unfortunately after removing the device and looking himself in the mirror, he was shocked at how deformed his face had become. He was mad at the scientist and nearly killed him. However, the guards restrained Kale, and Zorba reassured him that he was not going to need his pretty face anyway. One of the elite guards handed a hooded mask to Kale and told him to only take that off when in his private quarters. From that day onward, Kale's face had become a mystery to the rest of the Galaxy.

The Fall of Zorba

A year later, life had become dull. Kale started to miss his days in the Pits. The fights, the blood.. All he did now was stand guard near Zorba almost 24 hours per day. He started to realize that he has used most of his life to bring profit to a pathetic and greedy Hutt. The anger in Kale's heart grew with each passing day. and he started to plot against his master. One day, it seemed as if his wish had come true. A war broke out, and some of the Hutt families allied themselves against Zorba's criminal empire. Jealous of his wealth and power, they couldn't tolerate this any longer. An attack on his undeground palace occured, and even though they tried their best Zorba's henchmen were outnumbered and defeated. As Kale laid his weapon on the ground and prepared for the inevitable, the enemies proposed him a deal - to execute Zorba in exchange for his own life. Kale smiled under his Mask, and before Zorba had the time to even scream he killed his former Hutt overlord. His betrayal shocked his enemies, who were amazed as to how one of Zorba's Personal Guard could slay him in such manner. However, the guards kept their word and let Kale go free with nothing but his clothes and a few credits in his pocket. He was not allowed to take his weapon. As Kale looked behind at the debris and the smoke coming from the underground passage, he felt that his wish had come true - to witness the fall of Zorba and the destruction of his household.

The return home and still lost

After leaving the burning underground palace, Kale headed to the nearest starport and took a shuttle heading straight for Corellia. All he wanted was to find out the fate of his mother Hadriel. Shortly after arriving he asked around some of the Law Courts of Coronet city and found out that she committed suicide. Depression over her lost child was the reason behind this desperate act. Strange enough, Kale didn't feel much about these news. His years on Tatooine had twisted Kale's feelings. But now, Kale remembered a very old feeling from his childhood - the feeling of being lost, with no where to go.

Serving the Trade Federation

Kale went in a tavern to spend some credits and think about what to do with the rest of his life. There he met a Gungan, by the name of Wesley OyKi, who was looking to recruit new members into an organization called the Trade Federation. After some consideration, Kale accepted Wesley's proposal and was recruited into the ranks of the Federation as an Academy Cadet. After passing every exam, Kale was assigned to the Ministry of Defense as rank E-2 Crewman. After 8 months of serving, many promotions and with a great salary, Kale joined the officer ranks.
