Indar is the second brightest object in the sky for most of the Taanab System, second only to the Tive, the system's sole star. Its brightness is due to the high concentration of Corthel, a gas with high light-reflecting properties. Because of its brightness, Indar has long been used as a visual aid for those navigating the system. Beside Corthel, Indar is rich in several weapons-grade gasses. Mining and processing these gasses employs most of the planet's populace, and the gases supply a majority of the arsenals and defensive fleets that guard the system. Unlike the more remote of Taanab's gas giants, Indar has been inhabited continuously since its discovery. Its proximity to Tive makes it suitable for most sentient species with little adjustment, and its proximity the terrestrial planets of Taum Reese and Taanab allowed early colonists to maintain trade relationships with sources of wealth in the system.
Apart from sentient beings, Indar is home to a number of fauna specially adapted to the planet's unique conditions. These creatures reside in the inner layers of the atmosphere, and are not often seen by the sentient population. Wildlife safari and hunting business are growing as Indar's interior is becoming more navigable and operations move inward.
