The Ministry of State, formerly the Department of Government Affairs super department, is led by the Minister and is tasked with preserving the Federation’s influence abroad and coordinating its Civil Society at home. Because of this dual function, its influence exceeds that of almost any other organisation throughout Federal space; whilst Interior and Defense are equally present on all Federation worlds, the diverse remit of State – from magazine publishing to alliance-brokering – brings its everyday influence right into the home of almost every Federation citizen.
The Minister of State is equally, whilst a key figure in the organization of civic life throughout the Federation, one of the state’s chief diplomats: he is the head and chief executive of the Ministry. Appointed by the Viceroy with the approval of the , they oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ministry and serve as a voting member.
