Corbin Esco was the first true Viceroy of the Trade Federation.

Early Life

Corbin Esco was born on the planet Hapes in the Hapes Cluster to two wealthy Hapan parents. Not much else is known about Corbin's past, but Corbin knew from an early age that he was destined for greatness.

Imperial Career

Upon reaching the age of maturity Corbin left Hapes and made his way to the nearest Imperial Recruitment Center. It was there that he joined the Galactic Empire and enlisted into the ranks of the Imperial Navy. After serving in the Navy for quite some time Corbin resigned his commission and left the Empire.

Hapes Consortium

After leaving the Galactic Empire, Corbin made his way over to the Hapes Consortium. There he worked in one of its nationalized factions. During his stay in Hapes Corbin became a prominent figure both in the government and the galaxy at large. Corbin used his fame and Hapan contacts in order to purchase the Trade Federation from the Hapes Consortium and become its new leader.

Trade Federation

Corbin Esco purchased the Trade Federation from the Hapes Consortium marking the faction's move from a nationalized faction of the Hapes Consortium to an independent faction. Corbin assumed the position of Viceroy of the Trade Federation and under his leadership revolutionized the Trade Federation.

Viceroy Corbin Esco did away with the greedy ways of the old Neiomoidian leaders and instilled a new leadership directive. Under his rule the Trade Federation acquired what many came to call a family-feel. It was this feel that prompted many aspiring sentients to join the Trade Federation and help it blossom.

Under Corbin's rule the Trade Federation discovered, took control of, and settled in the Glythe Sector. The Vinsoth System was developed and the city of Forsetti was declared the capital city of the Trade Federation. With an established foothold in the Glythe Sector the Trade Federation advanced to its rightful place as a government.

Extended Leave of Absence

The pressure and stress of the duties associated with being Viceroy are plenty to say the least. With the Trade Federation doing well and set for the future, Viceroy Corbin Esco decided to step down from the position of Viceroy in order to take a well-needed leave. Corbin did not leave his successors without work to do, however. As his last act before going on leave, he drew up plans for a grand Confederacy of Independent Systems whose member factions would work together to benefit and better one another.

In his absence, Magistrate Toran Slisik assumed leadership of the Trade Federation, and Dev Nul served as interim Viceroy in the months before Horley Cyan was elected as the new Viceroy.

The Second Reign of Corbin

With the retirement of Viceroy Horley Cyan, Corbin returned from his leave of absence and resumed his position as Viceroy of the Trade Federation, with Bren Morgarr serving as his Duceroy.

It was during this time that tensions between the Galactic Empire and the Trade Federation came to a head. The Empire sought to strong-arm the Federation into surrendering its neutrality and the Glythe Sector. Despite Viceroy Esco's repeated efforts toward a peaceful resolution, he refused to be pushed over. The Empire issued a warrant for his arrest, and eventually declared war on the Trade Federation. Under Corbin's leadership the Federation stood firm, and its forces, led by Lord General of the Droid Armies Dev Nul, dealt the Empire a decisive defeat at the Battle of Corthor, breaking any meaningful Imperial grip on the Glythe Sector. The Empire later "pardoned" Viceroy Esco, though the war itself would outlast his reign.

Throughout the conflict, Duceroy Morgarr kept Federation morale high, earning the nickname "El Duce." In time, however, the strain of leading the Federation through war took its toll on Corbin. His public appearances grew less frequent, and Duceroy Morgarr assumed acting command. After consulting with several physicians, Corbin concluded that he was not yet ready to resume the full burden of leadership. He stepped down as Viceroy and departed for the Unknown Regions, leaving the Federation in the hands of the Duceroy he trusted.

Today

Corbin Esco remains in retirement. For many years he was known to travel the galaxy visiting old friends and touring the vast territories of the Trade Federation, but in recent times even veterans of his era have lost touch with him, and his current whereabouts are unknown. He is remembered by those who served under him as the Viceroy who gave the Federation its family feel and set it on the path to becoming a galactic government.
