Camp Gunray
From TF Library
Camp Gunray is a private city used as a personal retreat of the Trade Federation Viceroy. It is located on the easternmost peninsula of Taanab's rolling prairie island. The cliffs of the peninsula juts out over the sea, providing Camp Gunray with a refreshing sea breeze and a breathtaking vista. Camp Gunray was founded in the early day of viceroy Jacon Jansen's time in office. Jansen decided to name the retreat center after a leader in the former Trade Federation who was remembered for his love of luxury. The centerpiece of the retreat is a large viceregal palace. While not as large as the official place in Forsetti it still provides a luxurious escape from the burden of governing a growing empire of trade and a private meeting location for sensitive conversations with visiting dignitaries and heads of state. Camp Gunray also has a limited number of luxury hotels for guests of the viceroy and the Federations leaders. A large temple dedicated to the first viceroy Corbin Esco rises next to the palace, and serves as a venue for press conferences, civil ceremonies, and the observance of state observances and holidays. South of the palace is a reflection park, full of fountains and statues dedicated to the leaders of the Federation. Many of the statues are identical to the ones in the Walk of Monuments in Forsetti. Along the western wall of the city lies the official viceregal museum and archives. Here the records, private writings, and personal affects of former viceroys are protected and preserved.
Although there are no barracks or garrisons in Camp Gunray, the retreat is still well protected. The city is surrounded by thick walls which are complimented by an array of turrets to defend against attacks from the ground, the sea, the air, and from space. Security personnel hand-selected by the viceroy themselves have quarters in the palace and around the city.
