Early Life

Childhood

Avarik Ragnos was born in the ocean city of Argos on Corellia. His father, Jarel, and mother, Marasia, were particularly proud of their son and his budding talents. Corellia was after all the homeworld of many skilled and famous pilots and Avarik was no exception. The Imperials took an interest in Avarik and his superior abilities in piloting ships and vehicles. They offered to train and nurture Avarik's talent but his father would not allow the Empire to exploit his son's abilities for their own nefarious purposes.

During this time, Corellia was under the rule of an Imperial Governor and dictator. An underground Rebellion began against this tyrant in a fight for freedom. Avarik's parents joined this cause, and for several months, there were numerous victories against the Imperials. Things changed when the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy heard of these events. The commander sent his legion of specially trained assassins to deal with the insurgents. Avarik's parents were killed in the attack along with the rest of the rebels.

Training to be an Assassin

Orphaned and now completely alone, Avarik had to look after himself. But it was not long before the Imperials found him and other children in a raid of Argo's residental district to root out more rebels. Avarik was taken to the Imperial proving grounds, where for the next 8 years he was trained to be an Imperial Assassin, dealing in the art of stealth, reconnaissance and speed for quick killing. There were rumours among his peers that they were being trained to be "Sith Assassins". But who or what a "Sith" was, none of them knew. Occassionally, he and his peers would be called upon to deal with minor threats from Rebels on other worlds. Nobody would suspect a child to be an Imperial enemy after all. The killing stimulated Avarik. He would usually be in a hypnotic frenzy; slicing and stabbing his enemies with his vibroblades. He enjoyed it.

Avarik came to like the Empire. He believed that an "iron fist" rule of Corellia and the rest of the Galaxy was the right way to a future of peace. Many times, Avarik wondered why his parents had joined the Rebellion, whos prime goal was to destroy such a successful Government. He was convinced that the Rebellion was "evil" and that they needed to be stopped.

The Truth

It was during the end of his 8th year at the Imperial proving grounds when the Supreme Commander arrived personally to check on the progress of their training. Avarik and his friends had made a bet, that one day one of them would have the honour of being the second in command of the Imperial Navy and also the Commander's apprentice. Such a thought would seem absurd to many, but it didn't for the optimistic Assassins.

In an attempt to gain prestige and make himself noticed by the Supreme Commander, Avarik broke into the Imperial Governer's office to add his name in the register of the individuals who would accompany the Commander back to Imperial Center. While trying to find the register on the datapad, Avarik came across several of the Governer's records that demonstrated evils that the Empire was committing including plans to send Imperial troops to a nearby village to eliminate all it's residents (men, women and children) because they were becoming more and more defiant after the recent execution of innocent people only "assumed" to be rebels. Avarik saw the truth. The "evil" he was fighting to destroy was not the Rebellion; it was the Empire. The Galatic Empire was a corrupted organisation doing anything possible to maintain their power.

Shaken by this truth, Avarik ran, far away, from the Imperial presence on Corellia. The penalty for desertion in the Empire wass death, as he knew. But he no longer cared. For a few months, Avarik stayed in the refugee sector, in a state of depression. He changed his identity to "Ryan Parks" to hide from the Imperials. But Avarik wanted to get further away from this evil he was introduced to so early in his life. For the first time in 8 years he remembered his parents. He was alone now and would always be alone.

A New Life in Glythe

Avarik moved to a distant world in the Glythe sector called Malastare, where there was no Empire. In an attempt to get this life back on track, Avarik found various jobs as a pilot carrying valuable goods for distinguished organisations. His piloting skills served him well in evading pirates wanting to steal the valuable cargo on board his rented ship. But Freelancing was of no real interest to Avarik and he had no real distraction to help him forget Corellia.

Commerce Guild

Now truly sick of Freelancing, Avarik decided to make a few calls to the local Confederate Factions in search of employment. But an unexpected call had reach him first. It was from Countess Jeeva Ob of the Commerce Guild offering him a place in their ranks as a Pilot in the Logisitcs Department. He accepted without hesistation. The Countess was impressed with Avarik's hard work and awarded him the rank of Captain no more than a month after he had joined.

But the Countess had other plans for Avarik. She offered him a position as Director of Varn Operations to personally manage the raw material orders from the Confederacy and wider public. This meant a shift from Logistics to the Department of Internal Operations. Avarik would miss flying around the galaxy, but the offer was too good to pass up. With the privileges came an honourary status as well as Avarik was given the title of Governor of Varn and was personally incharge of managing all Guild related activities in the system.

Times changed and so too did the leaders of Commerce Guild. The Countess had stepped down to allow Cypher Diaz to lead the organisation and Korpa Kejsilic soon after. During this time, Avarik was already working in the Administrative ranks as Director of Sales for the Guild. Both Cypher and Korpa allowed him some freedom over leading some of Commerce Guild's departments during the time of the Trade Federation's Tax Planet project in order to keep up with the demand for raw materials. The orders were immense and the job was no easy task.

It was with deep regret that Avarik had to leave the Commerce Guild only after several months of service for his own personal reasons. He would leave behind good friends and the knowledge that he would always be welcome back into the Confederacy. There is no record in the Confederate Database of Avarik Ragnos' activities or whereabouts for the next six months after his unexpected leave of absence.

Trade Federation

It was with much surprise when Avarik Ragnos returned to the Confederacy a changed man with new ambitions and goals. Avarik decided to resign from the Commerce Guild and work directly with the government that he had indirectly served while in the Guild: The Trade Federation. He decided to join the Department of Commerce as a Trader and utilise his skills he had obtained during his time as Director of Sales in Commerce Guild. Duceroy Jacob Jansen recognised Avarik's talents and skills and his previous work experience in the Commerce Guild and promoted him to the rank of Director. Avarik was truly grateful and now had a newfound respect for Jacob Jansen.

As Viceroy Bren Morgarr stepped down, Jacob Jansen took his place. Soon after, Jacob and the Cabinet of Trade Federation accomplished a neutrality treaty with the Galatic Empire. Strangely enough, Avarik had no negative reactions to this event and was truly 'okay' with the move. It would seem that something had happened to Avarik Ragnos during his mysterious six month leave of absence that had changed him. Avarik now was more accepting of his precarious history and a much more mature man now he had reached the age of eighteen.

The Viceroy let Avarik take on one of his side projects of selling weapons to the Confederacy of Independant Systems. Avarik thus named the organisation 'Jansen and Ragnos Industries' who bought weapons from Merr-Sonn; a New Republic weapons faction. Jansen and Ragnos Industries was a non-profit organisation who's main purpose was to provide weapons within Confederate territory. Avarik had just managed to get the business to it's peak when a more important offer came from the Viceroy.

Confederate Mining Corporation

It was an offer to lead Jacob Jansen's new mining faction which Jacob himself had created with his personal funds. The organisation was to be named 'Confederate Mining Corporation'. Avarik was honoured to have been offered such a position. He accepted without hesitation and together with Marco Salo as Chief Operating Officer, they were to lead and shape the organisation into one that was functioning and productive. However, Avarik did not stay long because he had to move onto personal matters. Confederate Mining Corporation was thus left in the capable hands of his friend Marco. Avarik thanked the Viceroy for the privilege of leading Confederate Mining Corporation before he made his departure into the unknown.
