Iuventuti Nil Arduum [To the Young, Nothing is Difficult]
Carmen was the first child of Orrin and Cerri Sundane. His father, Orrin Sundane, was a sector magistrate on Coruscant in Sector L-27, also known as the Golden Coast, bordering the Western Sea. Orrin’s position allowed for a comfortable upbringing for Carmen which allowed for a broad exposure to the galaxy through vacations to nearby planets and systems, and interactions with the variety of sentient beings visiting the Western Sea on holiday. In contrast, he was also exposed to the darker side of Coruscant and the criminal elements from the Coruscant Underworld, and less orderly sectors, as his father sat in judgment over those accused of a variety of crimes.
As Carmen progressed through the academies and schools of Coruscant, he was presented with the opportunity to attend the Coruscant School of Law within the confines of the University of Coruscant, partly due to his father’s influence, but also due to his own merits and achievements during his schooling and studies.
Imperium Sine Fine [An Empire Without End]
Upon graduation with honors from the Coruscant School of Law, Carmen sat his goals on advancing the laws of the galaxy to ensure justice and order could be enjoyed by all sentient beings of the galaxy. With this in mind, he entered the Imperial Academy and found placement within the Regional Government of the Galactic Empire, and was assigned to the Dolomar Sector Authority under the leadership of Moff Tanez Kalrade.
After time, Carmen became a dependable source for duty and service to the Moff, and when Moff Kalrade was made High Moff over the Coruscant Oversector, Carmen followed along with the Sector staff to his once home to continue his duty towards justice and order.
Also during Carmen’s time with the Galactic Empire, he worked in tandem with the Imperial Security Bureau, Office of Adjudication, in reviewing and revising the Imperial Code of Laws to its present form, and also introducing the Imperial Code of Military Justice to the forces of the Galactic Empire.
Sic Infit [So it Begins]
As Carmen’s time with the Galactic Empire continued, and as his career took him away from further opportunities to interact with the law, he found an opportunity to move onward on his own path. High Moff Kalrade had commenced his retirement proceedings from the Galactic Empire and was on a course to resurrect Centarra Unlimited, a production organization dealing in everyday needs ranging from arms and armor to tents.
Tanez Kalrade invited Carmen to join him in this venture, and Carmen accepted as he had developed a loyalty to Kalrade from his days of working under him within the Dolomar Sector Authority and Coruscant Oversector in the Galactic Empire and commenced his own retirement proceedings from the Galactic Empire. Carmen oversaw and managed the day-to-day operations of a number of factories in the Bilbringi System, ensuring that orders were being filled and inventory created to ensure the success of Centarra Unlimited. Due to his adherence to work and work ethic, Carmen soon found himself as the second-in-command of the Bilbringi Shipyards and went from overseeing factories building arms and armor to overseeing entire factory cities manufacturing fighters and freighters.
While Carmen found enjoyment in the constant hum of activity, production quotas and travel within the Bilbringi System, he found that once again he had went down a path that took him away from his passion of justice and order.
Iter Legis [Path of the Law]
Carmen found his path again, and reoriented himself within the Trade Federation. Through his friendship with Tanez Kalrade, Carmen was able to make inroads with Viceroy Jacob Jensen and Duceroy Olwin Froon and offer his services as a practitioner of the law. At the time, the Trade Federation was in work to revise and restructure the Department of Justice and offered Carmen the opportunity to serve the government of the Trade Federation while assisting with the restructuring.
To date, Carmen has spearheaded efforts that have resulted in the completion of a new and revised Charter of the Trade Federation, and is constantly busying himself with the restructure of the current Trade Federation Law into more accessible Codes, such as the Trade Federation Penal Code and Commerce Code. During his pursuits, he has also been honored by Viceroy Jansen when he was named as a Justice for the Department of Justice.
Carmen continues to work diligently towards ensuring justice and order to all under the banner of the Trade Federation, and appears to finally be on a path that parallels his passions for justice and order. Jus est ars boni et aequi [Law is the art of the good and just.
