Manta Birostris is the 1st Surgeon General of the Trade Federation

Youth

During the time of the Galactic Empire, Manta’s home planet, Manaan was occupied by the Galactic Empire for supporting the Rebel Alliance by distributing kolto (a plant with healing powers) to the rebels. Because of the support shown by the Selkaths to the Rebel Alliance, they were enslaved and forced to harvest kolto for the Empire. After a nearly successful bloody rebellion by the Selkaths against the Empire, the Emperor discovered that there may be Force-sensitive Selkath hiding among the Selkath brethren. He assigned his Dark Lord to find this group of Force wielding Selkaths.

The Dark Lord discovered the force sensitive Order of Shasa, and secretly encouraged them to rebel against Imperial forces on Manaan. After the Order of Shasa successfully liberated themselves, the Selkath population went into a murderous rage and killed all non-Selkath left in Ahto City. The Dark Lord then revealed his true identity and intent, informing the Order of Shasa of what they had done and that they now serve the Emperor. Though racked with guilt because of the actions of their people the Order of Shasa remained defiant at the cost of their lives. Manta’s ancestors where almost all but annihilated… but a few did escape including the Birostris clan.

Manta Birostris was born on Manaan during a volatile time, as the Bacta War was in full swing. With the galaxy's supply of Bacta being affected, Kolto was once again brought to the attention of healers. Manta grew up during this time and was apprenticed to a group of Selkath healers whom utilized the sacred kolto plant as part of their craft. The kolto plant had a long history on Manaan, ensuring the respect of the people towards the Selkath healers. Manta revered the work of his ancestors and because of its proficiency in healing he devoted much of his time towards studing the kolto.

When Manta was at the standard age of 18, the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy. As the Yuuzhan Vong War erupted across the galaxy, Manta's home planet, Manaan, fell under siege. During the conflict Manaan became one of many battlegrounds between the invading Yuuzhan Vong and their Ailon Nova Guard allies. After the carnage, Manta was able to escape Manaan as a stowaway on a Ailon Nova Guard battle-cruiser that returned to the Ailon System.

Though the flight was mostly uneventful, Manta was discovered and captured on arrival to the planet Ailon. He stood out amongst the prisoners not only because he was of the Selkath race but also because of his time apprenticed to Selkath healers as a young boy and his unrivaled knowledge in utilizing the sacred kolto plant. His skill was noticed by the High Marshall of Ailon, when Manta healed the High Marshall's daughter after an unsuccessful assassination attempt by conquered dissenters. Because of Manta's act of healing and the expertise in which he executed his craft, the High Marshall gave Manta the opportunity to attend the medical university. Despite his turn of luck by those who helped conquer his planet, Manta hoped to someday follow in his ancestor’s footsteps and become a Force healer while bringing honor to his people.

Career

Manta, now of professional age, attended the medical university and graduated within the top 3% of his class. His natural instinct for healing allowed him to excel where other students faltered. His ingenuity and natural talent attracted the attention of Troon Kebris, a member of Ailon Nova Guard, who took Manta under his wing and eventually recruited him into the Ailon Nova Guard. After going through ANG Pilot Academy, Manta was able to earn his Recruit Pilot status. This event became one of the proudest moments for Manta. For, not the most prosperous of jobs, Manta felt proud nonetheless and found piloting a spacecraft to be as intricate and delicate as practicing medicine.

After a few years as a pilot, Manta was pursued and hired by Mettuh Lupus to fly for the Akheton Corporation Logistics. During his tenure with ACL Manta was able to achieve the rank of Vice-President through his hard work and expertise. It wasn't long before Manta was approached by then-Baktoid Armour Workshop President Gadon Trammer. Trammer acknowledged Manta’s craftsmanship, and wanted Manta to join the Baktoid team by producing items. With a heavy heart, but best wishes from Akheton, Manta left and moved on to work for BAW as a Foreman. As the years passed, President Trammer moved to other ventures and BAW VP Metyl Onyx was promoted to President.

It was a great honor for Manta to be working under legendary and exalted Metyl Onyx (now Trade Federation's Director of Production). Manta studied the skills of Onyx, and under his tutelage learned much about communication, leadership and dedication. Manta was the Master Foreman for the Department of Manufacturing and continued to help and learn from Director Onyx and his deputy, the legendary Duchess Jeeva Ob.

Eventually Manta was transferred to the Ministry of the Interior where he stayed under the command of Metyl Onyx, who at this time, managed to make it to Director of Industry. In time, Manta became responsible for the creation of a medical infrastructure to aid in treating wounded TF personnel during future military endeavors. Upon completion of this assignment, Viceroy Jacob Jansen assigned Manta as the First Surgeon General of the Trade Federation, where Manta continues to serve to this day.

Dr. Birostris implemented the birth of the new Department of Medicine (DoMed). The DoMed is responsible for all medical aspects within the Trade Federation. Dr. Birostris and the DoMed provides responsive and reliable medical services to not just the Trade Federation but also all the TF National Factions.
