Duceroy

The term Duceroy is unique across the Galaxy and only refers to the Second in Command of the Trade Federation. The current Duceroy of the Trade Federation is Rand Axim. Appointed by Viceroy Jacob Jansen and his Cabinet on Year 9 Day 108, Rand Axim is the 10th Duceroy of the Trade Federation.

History

Historians are unsure when the title was added to the rank structure of the Trade Federation. At one time, Magistrate was the second in command of the Trade Federation. It is suggested that Duceroy was added under the reign of Viceroy Corbin Esco, but all efforts to resolve the issue have come up cold.

The Role of the Duceroy

As the right hand man to the Viceroy and second in command of the Trade Federation, the Duceroy is answerable only to the Viceroy. The Duceroy (if no Regent is appointed) serves as second in the line of succession should the Viceroy die while in office or resign his command. The Ducero's duties in the Trade Federation will vary depending on the Viceroys wishes. Most Duceroys also head the Department of the Treasury.
