Description
Known primarily as an agricultural planet, Hassaria is largely composed of expansive grasslands and open fields with beds of rich volcanic soil. Pockets of geothermal energy dot the landscape, keeping the planet warm enough to yield multiple crops per year. This makes Hassaria one of the leading suppliers in the agricultural industry, providing high quality produce to thousands of Trade Federation citizens.
Dust corn is the planet's main export, while gapanga fruit and goat grass account for a smaller, yet still profitable commodity. Revenue is also gained from the tourists and scholars who visit the planet to explore the largest library in the southern hemisphere of the galaxy. As if seeping out from the many texts and scrolls hidden in the library itself, a modest scholarly settlement continues to grow and thrive around the monolith, providing a diverse level of class and education that varies greatly from the various farming communities that dot the majority of the planet’s surface.
The local populace is composed of a variety of races with a mixed demographic of transient laborers, established agricultural professionals, and highly educated scholars. Employment is average leaning towards high during peak harvest times, when seasonal positions saturate the market in a frenzied effort to collect the overabundance of crops before they over-ripen.
One can clearly see the impact of agriculture on Hassaria when looking at the annual harvest festival, easily the largest celebration on the entire planet. The festival always takes place two full nights after the last viable produce has been collected. Touting the wisdom of giving thanks to nature’s bounty and reflecting on the enduring cyclical nature of life, the festival is also a welcome break to a summer of long days and hard labor.

Hassaria (2,0)- New Landing
New Landing is the port of entry for Hassaria for most of its residents and visitors. The city's center is dominated by a large and luxurious starport which always stands ready to welcome new arrivals. New Landing was built up from several smaller settlements to better facilitate the planet's need of agricultural labor, and immigration and consulate offices housed in the starport itself assist incoming seasonal migrants with documentation and employment. The developers were careful to keep the city planning in line with the Arkanian value of simplicity, so New Landing lacks the usual skyscrapers and urban sprawl now common in highly developed settlements. Tenement buildings are no more than five stories and are interspersed between the various shops, offices, and restaurants that dot the streets. While the streets themselves are wide enough to accommodate speeders, most residents prefer to walk, leaving their speeders on the outskirts of the city or to take the public transit that winds through several areas of note. The most popular destination is the massive farmers market, where small and large landowners come to sell their crops to residents and exporters alike. The west district of the city is the oldest and the most industrialized. There are two factories which manufacture most of the farming equipment used on the planet, and these factories are surrounded by the various warehouses needed to sustain their industry. Several company workers compounds lie withing walking distance to the factories.
The residents of New Landing are a rich diversity in species and class. New waves of migrants and citizens alike mix with outgoing waves searching for the next harvest. A large minority have accepted the Arkanian styles of dress, but most have only noted the "trend" with mild curiosity. Zugarut'Ari Luz, being moved by the many crises in the galaxy and the disapora of his own species, has been lobbying to attract and accept more refugee populations from the Galactic Civil War, and has resettled a sizable and growing Baragwin population. Estimates place the population of New Landing during travel season around 4,000. With a mix of those who live there and those who stay there en route to the outlying farmland an accurate count is nearly impossible.
The local government is dedicated to keeping the atmosphere of the city relaxed, so the defenses are not visible to the general public. The starport has several concealed turrets to defend itself and the city center in case of an attack, and there is a barracks hidden in each quarter of the city which each hosts a detachment of fifty Massassi warriors. The Federation Security Service headquarters for the planet is located near the starport as well, and while labeled it is not overly conspicuous. Outside the city Ari Luz keeps his personal armored division, a collection of thirteen Hoverscouts and thirteen CAV's. These are kept out of the sight of the residents, and while stationed at New Landing they are primarily charged with the defense of the Library.
