Early Life
Childhood
Avarik Ragnos was born in the ocean city of Argos on Corellia. His father, Jarel, and mother, Marasia, were particularly proud of their son and his budding talents. Corellia was after all the homeworld of many skilled and famous pilots and Avarik was no exception. The Imperials took an interest in Avarik and his superior abilities in piloting ships and vehicles. They offered to train and nurture Avarik's talent but his father would not allow the Empire to exploit his son's abilities for their own nefarious purposes.
During this time, Corellia was under the rule of an Imperial Governor and dictator. An underground Rebellion began against this tyrant in a fight for freedom. Avarik's parents joined this cause, and for several months, there were numerous victories against the Imperials. Things changed when the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy heard of these events. The commander sent his legion of specially trained assassins to deal with the insurgents. Avarik's parents were killed in the attack along with the rest of the rebels.
Training to be an Assassin
Orphaned and now completely alone, Avarik had to look after himself. But it was not long before the Imperials found him and other children in a raid of Argo's residental district to root out more rebels. Avarik was taken to the Imperial proving grounds, where for the next 8 years he was trained to be an Imperial Assassin, dealing in the art of stealth, reconnaissance and speed for quick killing. There were rumours among his peers that they were being trained to be "Sith Assassins". But who or what a "Sith" was, none of them knew. Occassionally, he and his peers would be called upon to deal with minor threats from Rebels on other worlds. Nobody would suspect a child to be an Imperial enemy after all. The killing stimulated Avarik. He would usually be in a hypnotic frenzy; slicing and stabbing his enemies with his vibroblades. He enjoyed it.
Avarik came to like the Empire. He believed that an "iron fist" rule of Corellia and the rest of the Galaxy was the right way to a future of peace. Many times, Avarik wondered why his parents had joined the Rebellion, whos prime goal was to destroy such a successful Government. He was convinced that the Rebellion was "evil" and that they needed to be stopped.
The Truth
It was during the end of his 8th year at the Imperial proving grounds when the Supreme Commander arrived personally to check on the progress of their training. Avarik and his friends had made a bet, that one day one of them would have the honour of being the second in command of the Imperial Navy and also the Commander's apprentice. Such a thought would seem absurd to many, but it didn't for the optimistic Assassins.
In an attempt to gain prestige and make himself noticed by the Supreme Commander, Avarik broke into the Imperial Governer's office to add his name in the register of the individuals who would accompany the Commander back to Imperial Center. While trying to find the register on the datapad, Avarik came across several of the Governer's records that demonstrated evils that the Empire was committing including plans to send Imperial troops to a nearby village to eliminate all it's residents (men, women and children) because they were becoming more and more defiant after the recent execution of innocent people only "assumed" to be rebels. Avarik saw the truth. The "evil" he was fighting to destroy was not the Rebellion; it was the Empire. The Galatic Empire was a corrupted organisation doing anything possible to maintain their power.
Shaken by this truth, Avarik ran, far away, from the Imperial presence on Corellia. The penalty for desertion in the Empire wass death, as he knew. But he no longer cared. For a few months, Avarik stayed in the refugee sector, in a state of depression. He changed his identity to "Ryan Parks" to hide from the Imperials. But Avarik wanted to get further away from this evil he was introduced to so early in his life. For the first time in 8 year he remembered his parents. He was alone now and would always be alone.
A New Life in Glythe
Avarik moved to a distant world in the Glythe sector called Malastare, where there was no Empire. In an attempt to get this life back on track, Avarik found various jobs as a pilot carrying valuable goods for organisations. His piloting skills served him well in evading pirates wanting to steal the valuable cargo on board his rented ship. But Freelancing was of no real interest to Avarik.
Commerce Guild
Avarik trys to forget his troubled history, but it will always haunt him for the rest of his life. He often thinks of joining the Rebel Alliance to avenge the death of his parents, but he does not want to face the Empire because of the painful memories of the false life he had back on Corellia. How could he have been so blinded by the truth?
Avarik found work at the Commerce Guild and rose quickly through the ranks to take an Administrative position in the Guild. During his time in the Commerce Guild he had taken up the following positions:
Pilot - Logistics Department Captain - Logistics Department Director of Varn Operations - Internal Operations Governor of Varn - Internal Operations Director of Sales - Administration
After a few months in the Commerce Guild, Avarik has to leave for his own personal reasons. He wasn't seen or heard of for the next six months...
However this was not the last of Avarik Ragnos. He returned with new ambitions and goals and decided to resign from the Commerce Guild to try new things. He decided to stay in the Confederacy because he has made many friends and so chose to work for the Trade Federation where he could realise his true potential. Because of his experiences as Director of Sales with the Commerce Guild and previous ties with the Trade Federations, Avarik was quickly appointed as Director in the Department of Commerce in the Ministry of Interior. He is proud of his work, and he finds it helps him forget his troubled past...
