The planet Khomm is the home world of the Khommite race. These advanced humanoids breed only through cloning, and are smallish in stature with green skin mottled with some yellow. They also possess large cranial capacity and lack any hair. Their fragile bodies are not as disadvantaged as one would think due to the very moderate climate on their home planet. Due the prominence of cloning in their society their cloning technology has become one of the most advanced in the known galaxy. This has lead to many attempts by tech smugglers to steal this sometimes valuable and highly illegal information. So far no smuggler has succeeded.
The closest was Regrof Hatari, a smuggler from the Orus Sector. About 500 years ago he landed on the planet with over 300 of his followers in the mountainous region near the south pole of Khomm. Their presence was at first unnoticed, until they started capturing individual Khommites for interrogation. After a few dozen went missing, the Khommites sent their equivalent of an army, the Deaths.
The Deaths are a small group of cloned Khommites with any sense of self-preservation removed from their gene pool. Each Death carries a small charge of toxic plasma on their bodies, and when in range of an enemy detonates it. The plasma eats away any form of life, until there is nothing left, leaving their home world peaceful and untouched by any outside influence. When they caught up with the intruders, most of Regrof Hatari's people died horribly. The rest killed Hatari and stole his ships. Disappearing into the Orus Sector and spreading the tale to anyone who would buy them a drink so they could forget the screams they heard as their comrades died in agony.
