The Basic Training Standard Exam, commonly referred to as BTSE is, as the name suggests, an exam given to new recruits in the Department of Training before they can proceed to another department and start work in the Trade Federation. A grade of 75% is required to pass. It can only be administered and graded by an official member of the Department of Training.

Currently, the Basic Training Standard Exam is available in eight languages, with Galactic Basic being the standard. All versions are the same, and a passing grade in any language is acceptable for department transfer. The content of the BTSE is susceptible to change as real-galaxy information changes. These changes are decided upon by the Director of Training and the Minister of Government Affairs.
