A planet rich in untapped resources, Kur is the home of many industrious citizens. While the surface of the planet is cold, there are many leagues of arable land to work on. One of the most surprising features of the cold planet is the large glacial structures that are around the poles. When the sun of Kur graces the shimmering structures, the composition of the water turns the surrounding area into cascades of multicolored brilliance. Often people will vacation near the glaciers in the city of Quarra just to watch the sun rise over them. Some also say that the properties of this phenomenon create an emotional appeal, making it the “cold” spot of Kur.

The people of Kur have adapted to the cooler climates and find it difficult on warmer worlds. Many of the citizens will often be seen wearing minimal coverings even in deep winter. Ice breaking festivals and contests are one of the biggest celebrations during the year.

Between most of the cities and the glaciers are several active volcanoes that generate thermal heat for the cities. Near these volcanoes are many hot springs that the citizens enjoy in the deep winter when all else is frozen solid. Mid winter festivals are held near the springs so that people can enjoy the cold and the heat simultaneously. The grassy plains near the capitol offer many advantages and that is the main habitat of the popular animal, the grieanal. This creature is a soft fur bearing animal that hunts down more vermin and is an ideal pet for young children. The grieanal is mostly nocturnal and prefers to be a part of a social structure. They bond easily with humans and will seek out households to adopt. Other larger mammals roam across the plains. Their heavy pelts are used as covering in households and are treasured for their rich flavours in many local delicacies.

The avian species, frewya, is a multicolored bird that can be seen in the more heated areas. The frewya lives near the volcanoes and builds its nests close to the hot springs. Their eggs are considered quite tasty and hard to find. Frewya hunts are done in the winter when they are easier to find because of their plumage.
