			Due to the growing reliance on asteroid fields for key raw materials and his work related to the development of asteroid field prospecting technology, it was now more important than ever to understand the nature of asteroid fields themselves. Working with Minister [[Dred Oodoov]], work orders were issued for the allocation of asteroid field mining infrastructure in certain asteroid fields solely dedicated to science. Gav spent months in asteroid fields, running experiments on drone maneuvers, taking samples, analysis distributions, and running simulations, which would be packaged and delivered to the DoR for discussion. The value generated from this research, and also his continued work on the Federation Library, earned him both the [[Prospectors Cross]] and the [[Distinguished Service Award\|Level 1 Distinguished Service Medal]]. It also earned him a promotion to Ensign.

			===Ensign / Candidate DoR Sysman===

			Gav took on an official secondment with the [[Directorate of Resources\|DoR]] and eventually became a candidate system manager. He performed many resource management related missions for the Endor Depot, assisting the newly appointed Director [[Rick Stormchaser]], and also the Oko Depot, assisting Sysman [[Canus Kahiko-Dur]]. These missions ranged from slabbing and constructing mine cities, prospecting and mining asteroid fields, and assisting with drone allocation and mine extraction calculations. Working with the other Sysman, be developed a deeper understand of resource management and worked with [[Department of Holotech\|Administrator of Holotech]] [[Kaire Nat-Sa]] to design and implement new features for resource management related tools. This included an overhaul of the depot management dashboards and implementing re-prospecting and auto-assist technology into the asteroid field prospecting tool.

			====Contrarian====

			The truth is that Gav began to care deeply about the Federation and its citizens. He was no longer a lost pig in a universe that was out to get him. It came upon him almost suddenly the idea that he was not doing it all for recognition, he was not doing it for a pat on the back, but that making people's lives easier--with his tools, his findings, his ideas-- were an end in and of itself. But he was not always the best at communicating his ideas, his conflict resolution skills were dubious at best, and his understanding of chain of command and protocol were lacking. His recognition brought him proximity to cabinet members [[Dred Oodoov]], [[Minwolf Kandar]], and [[Kaire Nat-Sa]]. It brought him in front of, on occassion, members from the [[Inner Circle]] such as [[Jacob Jansen]] and [[Vas Felix]]. He came to them with humility and a desire to learn, and by all accounts he did not let the opportunities go to waste. He improved his conflict resolution skills and understand of chain of command, protocol, and politics. He improved his communication skills, and also his patience. Through this change in character, he was able to make great strides in the way DoR operated and help Kaire implement complex features into TFMS sooner than they were originally expected. His organizational and technological change work earned him a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade but also the [[Holonet Development Award]], the [[Special Service Ribbon\|Level 1 Special Service Ribbon]], and even more out-of-the-blue the [[Bronze Seal]].

			As Gav reflected on that day's Members Meeting and stared at his medals, he meditated on what they actually meant--to himself and to the Federation. He concluded that it was a signal of the direction he needed to go, an impression of his strengths and his weaknesses. The Federation, in particular Cabinet, was entrusting him with more and more responsibility, and bringing to more harder and harder problems to solve. Would he rise to his level of incompetence? Or would he continue to learn and grow? Were some of the problems he could see down the road even be solved? He looked at the names on the plaques--not his name, but the awarders. He thought about all the people who taught him, who he teamed up with on different missions. He realized that that was it. The answer was communication. The answer was teamwork. The answer was unity. Together, the Federation could accomplish anything, as it always had. From that point on, whenever he was presented with a challenge, he would not ask himself "How will I solve this?" but instead, "How will WE solve this?"
