Cangeson Wolfsbane, an engineer by trade, from Corellia. Cangeson’s name carried little weight in the galaxy at large, but among veterans and the crews he’d saved, he was remembered as the man who could keep a ship flying when all hope was lost. To his family, he was a man who had seen enough war for a lifetime, and chose instead to build a future among the stars.

Early Life
MI-4073 was one of millions of human clones bred on Kamino for service in the Grand Army of the Republic. Like his brothers, he received the standard military education and conditioning expected of a clone trooper.

During his training, however, 4073 demonstrated particular aptitude in two areas: vehicle operation and mechanical systems. He possessed quick reflexes and a strong understanding of complex machinery. He was particularly interested in the equipment used by the clones and frequently spent time examining, dismantling and repairing equipment beyond the requirements of his formal training.

His instructors initially regarded this as a useful secondary skill. His physical performance and aptitude for vehicle operation ultimately led to his selection for specialist BARC trooper training.

BARC Trooper Training
4073 was assigned to a Heavy BARC Trooper programme, combining reconnaissance and rapid-response duties with the operation of heavily armed BARC speeders.
The role required considerably more than simply piloting a speeder. BARC troopers were expected to operate ahead of larger formations, conduct reconnaissance, provide mobile fire support and operate in difficult terrain while maintaining their own equipment.

4073 performed well throughout his training. He developed a particular reputation for his ability to control a BARC at high speed while simultaneously managing its weapons systems.

His technical aptitude also became increasingly apparent. He learned to perform field repairs and modifications to his own speeder, frequently carrying tools alongside his standard equipment. His approach was practical rather than theoretical. He was interested in understanding why something had failed and how to restore it to service rather than simply following a maintenance procedure.

Among his batchmates, he became known as "Wolfsbane", a nickname that would eventually become the family name he chose for himself.

The Clone Wars
Following the outbreak of the Clone Wars, MI-4073 was deployed as a Heavy Recon Specialist.

His BARC unit was frequently used ahead of larger Republic formations, conducting reconnaissance, screening advancing forces and providing mobile fire support. His ability to maintain his own equipment proved particularly valuable during extended operations away from Republic support.

4073 became known for pushing his BARC beyond its standard operating limits when circumstances required it. He regularly modified or repaired equipment in the field and developed a reputation for finding unconventional solutions to mechanical problems.

His technical skills also made him useful when dealing with captured or damaged Separatist equipment. He developed an understanding of enemy vehicles and systems that could be applied to sabotage, field repairs and improvised equipment.

<blockquote>Personal Log: Every brother’s blaster jams eventually. Out here, the BARC bike is screaming; I’ve pushed the turbines past the safety limits again, but in this mud, speed is the only thing keeping the heavy cannon from sinking us. Most brothers see a speeder as a ride and a blaster as a tool. To me, they’re parts of a single machine. If I don't listen to the hum of the engine, I don't hear the breakdown coming. I fight so my brothers don’t have to fight alone, keeping the gears turning so the Wolfsbane can keep hunting.</blockquote>

Campaigns
Geonosis
4073's first major campaign was the Battle of Geonosis.
Operating as part of a high-speed flanking element, he used his BARC to move around Separatist positions and assist Republic forces in dealing with enemy armour and fortified positions.

The campaign provided his first significant combat experience and reinforced the importance of mobility and equipment reliability. It was also one of the first occasions on which his practical mechanical knowledge proved directly useful in combat.

Umbara
During the Umbara campaign, 4073 operated in difficult jungle conditions where visibility and conventional vehicle support were severely restricted.
His BARC became an important mobile fire-support platform for Republic troops operating in the area. He also worked with captured Umbaran equipment, finding ways to make use of local power systems to maintain Republic equipment in the field.

The campaign further developed his ability to improvise repairs and adapt equipment to circumstances for which it had not been designed.

Ryloth
On Ryloth, 4073 worked alongside Twi'lek freedom fighters during Republic operations against Separatist forces.

His unit conducted hit-and-run patrols and attacks against droid supply lines. Cangeson's ability to work with limited resources became particularly useful, as damaged equipment and salvaged components were frequently repurposed rather than replaced.

The experience also broadened his understanding of the wider impact of the Clone Wars. His role brought him into contact with civilians and resistance fighters, rather than limiting his experience to the perspective of the Republic military.<br>

Coruscant
During the assault on Coruscant, 4073 operated in the lower levels of the city, where his BARC provided a combination of mobility and firepower in confined environments.
He was involved in countering Separatist demolition and boarding operations while also assisting with damaged infrastructure and power systems. The campaign reinforced a lesson that had become increasingly apparent throughout his military service: technical knowledge could be just as important to a military operation as firepower.

<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>
Injury and Transfer to Engineering
4073's career as a BARC trooper eventually came to an end during a reconnaissance operation behind Separatist lines.

His unit encountered a concealed Separatist position equipped with heavy weapons. During the engagement, his BARC was struck and lost control. 4073 was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries to his left shoulder and upper arm, as well as several fractured ribs.

He survived the incident and eventually recovered sufficiently to return to military service.

The injury, however, permanently affected the fine motor control and reaction speed required for frontline BARC operations. Medical personnel determined that he was no longer suitable for continued service as a BARC trooper.

For 4073, this represented a significant change. His military career had been built around speed, mobility and direct combat. He had trained specifically for the BARC role and had spent much of the Clone Wars developing his skills in the field.

During his recovery, he began assisting the technicians responsible for repairing his equipment.

What began as an informal activity gradually developed into a new career path.

His previous experience gave him an advantage over conventional technicians. He understood how equipment behaved when operated under combat conditions and knew which failures could be tolerated and which could place a soldier's life at risk.

His technical aptitude was formally recognised and he was transferred into the GAR's engineering and technical services.

Engineering Training
4073 subsequently received specialist training in combat engineering, vehicle maintenance, field repairs and military technology.

Although he had less formal engineering education than many of his fellow trainees, his practical experience allowed him to progress quickly.

He developed a reputation for diagnosing faults through direct examination and for finding practical solutions when standard procedures were unavailable.
His time as a BARC trooper remained influential in his engineering career. He approached machines from the perspective of the person who would ultimately have to rely upon them.

The transfer marked the beginning of his career as an engineer.

After the War
When the Republic fell and the Galactic Empire was born, clones like MI-4073 were “retired.” Specialized units like the Heavy BARC troopers were among the first to be phased out as the Empire moved toward the mass-produced uniformity of the Stormtrooper Corps. Like many of his brothers, 4073 was effectively retired.

He left Kamino carrying little more than his personal equipment, his tools and the technical knowledge acquired during years of military service.
Rather than remain tied to his former designation, he adopted the name Cangeson Wolfsbane.

"Wolfsbane" was the name by which his brothers had known him, while Cangeson became the personal identity he chose for himself.
For the first time, his life was no longer determined by military orders.

Life on Corellia
Cangeson eventually settled on Corellia, where his engineering and piloting skills provided a natural place within the planet's extensive shipbuilding and transport industries.

He worked among shipyards, freighter crews, independent operators and traders. His experience with military vehicles translated readily to civilian spacecraft, particularly when dealing with older or heavily modified vessels.

He became known as a capable freelance engineer who could repair ships that other technicians considered beyond economical repair.

His knowledge of repulsorlift systems, engines, weapons and structural modifications also made him useful to independent freighter operators.

Cangeson continued to fly as well as repair vessels, and his experience as a former military pilot made him a capable transport operator.

It was during this period that he met Marr'ae, a Zabrak trader.

Initially their relationship was professional. Marr'ae provided work and Cangeson maintained the equipment required to complete it. Over time, their partnership developed into a personal relationship.

For Cangeson, Marr'ae represented an entirely different kind of life from the one he had known as a clone. He was no longer operating under orders from Kamino, the Republic or the military. He had chosen his own work, his own relationships and, increasingly, his own future.

<blockquote>Personal Log: Year -17: That’s when Marr’ae came into my orbit. Zabrak, sharp as vibrosteel, didn’t waste words. She hired me to keep her transport flying; I thought it’d be another short contract. But run after run, system after system, I realized she wasn’t just moving cargo, she was building something bigger. And me? I was following, same as I had my whole life. Except this time, no commander shouted orders. Just her voice, steady, certain. She gave me something the Kaminoans never did: choice.</blockquote>

Cangeson and Marr'ae eventually had a daughter, Siou. The birth of Siou represented an important point in Cangeson's life. Having spent his entire existence being treated as a military asset, he now had a family and responsibilities that existed entirely outside the military structure. Cangeson regarded fatherhood as a new purpose in his life.
His experience as a clone remained part of him, but it was no longer the only thing that defined him.

<blockquote>Personal Log: Year -15: Today I held my daughter for the first time. Siou. Fragile, loud, alive in ways clones like me were never meant to be. I looked into her eyes and saw no orders, no war, no designation. Just possibility. For years, I told myself my purpose was in keeping ships alive, in staying useful, in refusing to fade away like the rest of my brothers. But when her hand wrapped around my finger, I knew this was the mission I’d been waiting for. Not survival. Not service. Legacy.</blockquote>

Marr'ae's Death
In Year 26, Marr'ae died after contracting a blood infection.

Before her death, she asked Cangeson to find their daughter and continue living his life. Cangeson subsequently took his freighter and began travelling towards Austan, where he believed Siou was living and working with Ternion Corps. The journey became an extended period of travel and independent work. Cangeson transported freight, moved ships and assisted people along the way. For perhaps the first time since leaving the GAR, he experienced a genuine sense of freedom.

The Metamorphosis Plague
While travelling through Derra, Cangeson contracted the phenomenon known as the Metamorphosis Plague.

Over time, his physiology began to change. His human form gradually transformed until he became a Mon Calamari. The transformation required considerable adjustment, particularly as Cangeson had spent his entire life in a human clone body. His physical characteristics, including his hands, respiratory system and general physiology, were now different.

Despite the difficulties, Cangeson came to view the transformation as another stage in his life rather than something that defined him.
He retained his memories, skills and personality.

He was still Cangeson Wolfsbane.

The transformation did, however, provide a symbolic separation from the identity he had been given on Kamino.

<blockquote>Personal Log: Year 26, Day 168: I’ve seen my share of fevers in the field. Kaminoan inoculations failing in the swamps of Felucia, brothers coughing blood in trenches while medics tried to patch the holes. But this… this isn’t any fever I’ve ever known.

The shakes started two nights ago. By morning, my skin had darkened in patches, rough to the touch like stone dragged across coral. My lungs burn, but not like they’re failing, more like they’re… changing. Breathing feels different, deeper, pulling air in a way I can’t quite place. I catch myself holding my breath longer than any human should, as if my body’s testing its own limits.

They call it the Metamorphosis Plague. Most spacers curse it, pray they don’t catch it, fear what it makes them. But when I look in the mirror and see this face I barely recognize staring back, I don’t feel fear. I feel… release. For the first time since Kamino, no one owns this body. Not the Kaminoans, not the Republic, not the Empire. This is mine.

Marr’ae told me to live. Maybe this is what she meant; to shed the skin of a soldier, of a widower, of a clone, and walk forward as something new. My name is Wolfsbane. My daughter is out there. And whatever I’m becoming, I’ll find her. I’ll make sure she knows her father still fights. Not for orders, not for credits, but for her.

My new Mon Calamari hands are different—wider, more dexterous in some ways, clumsier in others. But when I pick up my old BARC-tuning wrench, the muscle memory is still there. The skin changes, but the engineer remains.”</blockquote>

Searching for Siou
Cangeson eventually reached the region where he believed Siou to be living, only to discover that his information was almost a year out of date.

Siou had left Ternion and Austan and travelled to Leafar, where she became involved with the Jungle Oracle and efforts to free Ithor from commercial exploitation.
By the time Cangeson arrived, Siou had succumbed to Lost Soul Syndrome. Although she remained alive, she was no longer responsive.

Cangeson remained on Leafar and spent time with Siou's friends and those who had known her. Rather than simply leaving, he became involved with some of the projects Siou had previously supported. This gave him an opportunity to understand the life she had built and maintain a connection with his daughter despite her condition.

<blockquote>Personal Log: Year 26, day 242: They call it Lost Soul Syndrome. Such a tidy phrase for something so cruel. She still breathes. Still exists. But my daughter, who carried the spirit of her mother and the stubbornness of her father, is somewhere I can’t follow. When the Oracle and her companions spoke of her courage, her devotion to those who couldn’t fight for themselves, I heard Marr’ae’s voice echo in theirs.</blockquote>

The Trade Federation and Career Therein
In the latter part of Year 26, Cangeson accepted a contract with the Trade Federation's Minister of the Interior, Dred Oodoov.

Oodoov had previously worked with Siou and, aware of Cangeson's circumstances, offered him a permanent position within the Trade Federation.
The decision was complicated by Cangeson's history.

As MI-4073, he had fought against the Trade Federation during the Clone Wars. The Federation and its associated forces had once been considered an enemy of the Republic he served.

Decades later, the political circumstances of the galaxy had changed.

Cangeson accepted that the Trade Federation of his present was not identical to the organisation he had fought during the Clone Wars. His new position allowed him to work as an engineer and individual rather than as a military designation.

He accepted the position and formally began his career within the Trade Federation.

<blockquote>
Personal Log: Year 26, day 297:
Funny, isn’t it? Sixty years ago, if you’d told me I’d be under the flag of the Trade Federation , I’d have laughed you out of the mess hall. Back then, they were the enemy. Droids by the millions, marching under their banners, tearing apart Republic worlds. And me? Clone MI-4073, bred and trained on Kamino to stop them at any cost.

But the galaxy doesn’t sit still. Wars end, governments rise and fall, names get scrubbed from the records. The Trade Federation I bled against isn’t the same one I work with now. The old viceroys are gone, their fleets stripped down, their battle droids turned into scrap. What’s left is business — cargo, routes, neutral space where the Empire doesn’t pry too much and the Rebels don’t come knocking.

I won’t lie, the first time I signed a contract with them, my gut twisted. All those years in the mud and the steel, fighting against what they once stood for… it felt like betrayal. But look around now. The Grand Army was disbanded, the brothers scattered, the Empire never wanted us except as disposable tools. Out here, with the Federation, I’m not a number in a line of armor. I’m an engineer, a freelancer, a man with a name.

Maybe that’s the lesson time teaches you — enemies change, but survival stays the same.</blockquote>
Cadet
The Academy
Upon joining the Trade Federation, Cangeson travelled to the Academy on Taanab.

Despite his previous military experience, he completed the Federation's Basic Training programme and passed the Basic Training Standard Examination.

Following the examination, he took the Trade Federation Oath and graduated as a Cadet First Class.

Cadet First Class
Allana's Angels
Following his graduation, Cangeson was assigned to Analla's Angels under Flight Operations Officer Angavel Adram Accsia.

He travelled to Dalcretti and joined the crew of the TFL Analla's Angel #07 before beginning logistics and transport work.

During this period, he undertook numerous assignments involving the movement of ships and equipment between Federation facilities.

His engineering and piloting background made him particularly well suited to the work.

Flight Sergeant
Cangeson's work within the Ministry of the Interior resulted in his promotion to Flight Sergeant in Year 27, Day 15.

He subsequently participated in the Dalcretti VI FI project, assisting with land clearance, construction and infrastructure development.

His practical engineering background proved useful throughout the project.

Ensign
Following the completion of the Dalcretti VI project, Cangeson was promoted to Ensign in Year 27, Day 158.

He was subsequently assigned to the reformed Donuts Express flight team.

Donuts Express
During his time with the team, he completed a number of logistical assignments, including the transportation of A-Wings, B-Wings, Y-Wings, U-Wings, Lucres and ATR-6 assault transports.

Ministry of State
The Library
During his flight to Dalcreti, his craft intercepted a communication from one Gav Lucky, from within the Trade Federation's Ministry of State asking for volunteer archivalists to assist in keeping the Library updated as necessary. Given the amount of downtime likely to be experienced in hyper, Cangeson saw the value in lending his aid to the project, as a way of learning more about his new home.

Following the link, the face of a Chiss male appeared in a holorecording. From his studies, Cangeson knew this to be the recently-appointed Minister of State, Minwolf Kandar. The minister introduced himself, the project, and then the current Head Archivalist, Gav Lucky. Upon the name being stated the screen flickered, and rendered the image of a stout Ugnaught, who, again, introduced himself, and talked through the premise of the project.
<blockquote>The Trade Federation Library exists to preserve, codify, and disseminate the institutional memory, legal doctrine, operational knowledge, and cultural identity of the Trade Federation.

It serves as the definitive source of truth for all who seek to understand the Federation’s past, navigate its present, and shape its future. Through disciplined curation and archival integrity, the Library empowers clarity in governance, continuity in command, and excellence in execution across all levels of the Federation. </blockquote>

This was followed by a brief list of ongoing initiatives, introduction to other volunteers currently assisting the project, and Cangeson's credentials to log on to the library's databanks to start his work.

Following his work on the Library, Cangeson was promoted to Chief Archivist in Year 26, Day 358.

In Year 27 Day 15, alongside former Chief Archivist Gav Lucky, Cangeson was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal [DSM-L1].

In an interview with the Ledger, Cangeson was asked to provide final thoughts on his time as Chief Archivist. He had this to say:
<blockquote>I did not begin my life within the Trade Federation.

I began as property of the Grand Army of the Republic. A clone trooper. Bred for obedience. Trained for war. I fought battle droids manufactured under Federation contracts. I stood on worlds scarred by blockades and supply denials. My understanding of the Federation was simple: "Enemy."

War has a way of compressing complexity into targets and objectives. You do not question balance sheets when artillery is falling.

The archive has forced me to confront something uncomfortable. Institutions are not singular creatures. They are coalitions of interests, factions, internal disputes, evolving strategies. In the ledgers, I have seen hesitation where I once assumed cruelty. Economic calculations where I assumed malice. And, yes, decisions that confirm the worst of what we believed on the battlefield. Both can be true.

Serving here has not rewritten my past. I remember comrades who did not survive engagements tied, directly or indirectly, to Federation ambition. That memory remains intact. But the library has broadened my perspective. I now see that during the Clone Wars, there were Federation officials arguing against escalation. Quartermasters planning humanitarian contingencies.

History rarely aligns cleanly with the clarity soldiers are given.

What I would add, then, is this: proximity to records dissolves absolutes.

I once saw the Federation as a monolith to be defeated. I now see it as an evolving entity capable of error, ambition, restraint, and adaptation. That does not absolve it. But it contextualises it.

If a former clone trooper can sit at the helm of its archive and read its history without bitterness blinding him, then perhaps there is value in looking twice at any institution we think we fully understand.

War gave me purpose. The archive has given me perspective. Both have shaped who I am.</blockquote>

On Year 27, Day 160, under his supervision, the Trade Federation Library was opened to new membership once again. The aim was to add more voices to the record of the Federation, as the Federation is made up of more than its ministries and departments; it is made up of its people! Cangeson had worked with the Minister of State, the Director of Holotech and the Viceroy himself, to bring the project to fruition.

The Federation Ledger
As part of his term volunteering with the Library project in the Department of Culture, Cangeson was also asked to participate in the Federation's "Culture Renaissance" with the recently resurrected "Federation Ledger." Cangeson's role was to act as the everyman-on-the-street to ensure articles read well, and flowed.

During his time reviewing articles, Cangeson had an idea for his own series of articles, entitled Keeping it Running - a series of articles discussing care and maintenance of all manner of items; from vehicles to weapons, and ships. It was submitted to the Editor in Chief, Thion Roseland and Minister of State, Minwolf Kandar for review and acceptance.

Cangeson was promoted to Editor-in-Chief of the ledger, Y27D204.
Ministry of Defence
Warrant Officer
In Year 27, Day 243, Cangeson transferred from the Ministry of the Interior to the Ministry of Defence. He entered the Ministry as a Warrant Officer, returning to a military environment after decades away from formal military service. His previous experience as a clone trooper, BARC specialist, engineer, pilot and civilian technician made him particularly suited to practical military assignments.

He was subsequently assigned to Task Group Orion.

His return to military service represents a continuation rather than a complete return to his earlier career. Although Cangeson remains a soldier at heart, his experience has changed considerably since his days as MI-4073.

He now approaches military service as a volunteer who has chosen his place within the organisation rather than as a clone created for a predetermined purpose.

Morale and Social Events
Winter Hunt Year 27
As part of the Department of Culture's annual celebrations, for the period between Year 27 Day 6 and Day 30. Descending upon Neimoidia, Cangeson partnered with Caelo Ignis. Between the two, they scored over 1100 points, placing them 4th and 6th on the leaderboard.

<br><br><br><br><br><br>
<br><br><br><br>

Character and Legacy
Cangeson's life has been defined by several distinct careers: clone trooper, BARC specialist, engineer, pilot, husband, father, civilian technician, archivist and military officer.

The common thread throughout each period has been his practical approach to problems;
*As a BARC trooper, he learned to keep his equipment operational under combat conditions.
*As an engineer, he learned how to repair and modify complex systems.
*As a civilian, he applied those skills to ships and machinery.
*As an archivist, he applied the same methodical approach to information and institutional history.
*As a Trade Federation officer, he combines his technical and military experience with the independence he developed during his years outside formal service.

His history has also given him a complicated relationship with institutions. He was created by Kamino, commanded by the Republic, discarded by the Empire and eventually employed by an organisation he once considered an enemy.

His work in the Trade Federation Library forced him to examine that history in greater detail. Rather than abandoning his memories of the Clone Wars, he has learned to view them alongside the broader historical record.

Cangeson does not regard his past as something that needs to be erased. He considers it part of the experience that made him who he is.

The clone designated MI-4073 no longer exists as a military designation. Cangeson Wolfsbane does.

|<q>The new Chief Archivist of the Library, Cangeson Wolfsbane has truly hit the ground running. He has set up new methods and workflows to direct the improvements to the library. The Archives are in good hands, and I truly look forward to seeing what they will look like in another month, or six. He has also taken on a role in the Ledger Team. Many of Cangeson's contributions to the Ledger will not be seen until the next issue is released. For these reasons, I present to you the First Level of the Distinguished Service Award.</q> ~Minister Kandar
Founded in Year 10, the Confederate Ledger, later the Federation Ledger, was used as a way to keep citizens of the Federation abreast of all the news within, and without. The Ledger had a hiatus in year 19, until year 26 when publications were distributed once more under Minister of State, Minwolf Kandar.

Governance Overview
The Trade Federation’s governance is rooted in a long-standing tradition of structured hierarchy, where authority flows through clearly defined ranks and promotions are earned through a combination of time in service, exceptional skill, professional expertise, and demonstrated performance. At its apex sits the Cabinet, comprising the Office of the Viceroy and the equal yet auxiliary Office of the Duceroy. This dual leadership is balanced by the Inner Circle, a body of Councillors entrusted with safeguarding the Federation’s stability, advising the leadership, and appointing successors to the offices of Viceroy and Duceroy. Councillors may also hold concurrent positions throughout the Federation’s structure. The Cabinet also includes three principal ministries, namely, the Ministry of State, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of the Interior. These ministries are responsible for directing the Federation’s external diplomacy, military operations, and internal administration, respectively.

Beneath these ministries lies the Directorate, a vast and varied network of operational divisions, command offices, and specialist bodies, and nationalized factions, each charged with fulfilling the Federation’s strategic, administrative, and operational mandates. This enduring system ensures unity of command, operational efficiency, and the preservation of the Federation’s traditions of leadership.

Cabinet
The below illustrates the current command structure of the Trade Federation.

At it's head, sits the Viceroy and the Inner Circle, which is made up of the Duceroy and councilors. Between them, they make up The Rule of Four, whereby the title of Viceroy will rotate between those within the Inner Circle in 6 month cycles - unless otherwise approved by the Inner Circle.

Below the Inner Circle, are the Ministers of State, the Interior and Defense. These three ministers, plus the Inner Circle make up the Cabinet. From time to time, the Viceroy and Inner Circle may appoint advisors to the Cabinet, for example, the Chief Justice may sit in on matters pertaining to law and legal disputes.

At the next level within the Ministry of State, you have the departments of Justice, Trade and External Affairs, lead by the Chief Justice, Trade Ambassador and High Ambassador, respectively. Whilst within the MoS, these 3 roles report directly to the Viceory. This is then followed by the departments of Admissions, Culture and Holotech, lead by directors of Admissions and Cultures and the Main Administrator for the Ministry of Holotech. These three report to the Minister of State.

Three directorates sit within the Ministry of the Interior - Resources, Production and Industry, all assisted by the Department of Operations. All four are lead by Executive Directors who report directly to the Minister of the Interior. Below then, the Trade Federations NATs, Baktoid Armour Workshop, Centurion Arms, Kuat Drive Yards, and Techno Union. These are run by the respective directors, who all report to the Executive Director of the Directorate of Production.

The Ministry of Defense includes the Joint Defense Force, lead by the Fleet Admiral, and the Federation Security Services, lead by the General. Both report directly to the Minister of Defense.

For the Chain of Command for each Ministry, please see their respective library pages.

History
Upon the great Galaxy change, with stars being re-arranged, and Trade Federation rule of no non-faction stations inside Federal systems, the need for a unified location where Trade Federation members would organize and build, together, their personal stations, arose. Secret talks were made between former DoL pilot Vlasta Zmaj and Kopljanik Despotovic. One of them would scout such a location that was clear of potentially hidden systems. Vlasta Zmaj was the pilot that found that spot, just on the border of Nouane and Shataum sectors, under TF space rule and close to Asrat, members open up a commerce hub.

First space station that moved to this location was Kopljanik`s Trading 2 Jasnovodja, placed in the center of that DS spot and informally became administrative center. Soon satelite basic grid was set and other Federation members invited to join... at that time of initial migration vote was organized for the Name and the Vei was born. This happened at some point in at Year 13 or before. However, a formal organization with a Charter and procedures to accept new members was only implemented early in Year 14.

After that, the member base kept growing. A boost took place at the Trade Federation - Avance Coalition merger. Many months after that event, another hallmark of Veil history emerged: the creation of South Veil, i.e., the territory was expanded with another deep space location in the South, which included several trading stations generously donated by Viceroy Jacob Jansen. He was the most significant supporter on this expansion.
Charter
Ratified on unknown date by the Council<br>
<i>Updated on Year 19, Day 197 by the Council</i><br>

Article I. Name
The name of this organization is the Veil Association, (“The Veil”).

Article II. Geographic Boundaries
The Veil encompasses two deep space locations: North Veil at (120, 170) & (119, 170) near the center of space between the Nouane and Shataum Sectors, and South Veil at (-200,-252) & (-199, -252) near the Moddell sector border, very close to Ast Kikorie system. The Council may from time to time consolidate, subdivide, or alter the area boundaries.

Article III. Purpose
Section 1. Council
The Council is the executive authority on matters affecting the growth and development of the Veil. The Council may develop and issue decrees with respect to development, safety, defense and any other activities and services which may affect the Veil.
Section 2. Council Priority
The Council shall address all matters which affect the Veil, including problems of safety and economic development.
Section 3. Educational
The Council shall serve in an educational capacity to inform the residents of the Veil. The Council shall encourage and facilitate communication among residents on matters of common concern.

Article IV. Powers and Authority
The Council holds exclusive power and authority over the Veil, and has been acknowledged by the Trade Federation as a self-governed entity that is exempt from Trade Federation Law. The Council may use this authority to whatever ends is deemed necessary and appropriate to enable it to exercise the powers granted or allowed to it by this Charter.

Article V. Participation
Section 1. Resident
A sentient being who has served, at a minimum, six months with the Trade Federation, may petition the Council for acceptance as a resident. If accepted, the sentient being becomes a resident upon signing the Veil Member Contract. Outside persons may be accepted by unanimous vote of the Council. The Council maintains the authority to invest any sentient being with the status of a resident upon a unanimous vote of approval from the current Council.
Section 2. Entitlement
Participation in the affairs of the Veil is open to any resident located within the boundaries described in Article II.
Section 3. Voice and Voting
:a.) Residents are entitled to speak at any public meeting and are entitled to one vote if a call for a vote is made public by the Council.
:b.) No absentee voting shall be allowed for a vote called during a meeting of the Council.

Article VI. Councillors
The Council shall be made up of five Councilors, each with equal authority and power upon the Council. At each meeting, whether public or private, the Councilors will elect a chair to supervise the business and activities of that session. The chair of the Council is only a position to assist in facilitating a meeting, and grants no additional authority and/or power.

Article VII. Election and Removal of Officers
Section 1. Elections
The Councilors shall be elected during a bi-annual poll (held at the end of July and the end of December) and shall serve six-month term.
Section 2. Candidates
Prior to the bi-annual poll, any resident may nominate themselves for the office of Councilor. The slate of candidates for office shall be published prior to the bi-annual poll. Additional nominations may be made from the floor at the meeting.
Section 3. Voting
Each resident of the Veil is allowed to cast three votes in the bi-annual poll for three candidates from the slate of candidates for office.
Section 4. Absences
If a member of the Council is absent for a period of 30 days, or more, that Councilor’s position shall be vacated unless the Council finds that extraordinary circumstances prevented the Councilor’s attention.
Section 5. Vacancies
The Council shall, by appointment, fill vacancies in the Council, to be filled until the next bi-annual poll upon which time five Councilors are named to the Council.

Article VIII. Rules of Order
Section 1. Public Meetings
The quorum necessary to transact business at any Public Meeting is eight participants, four Councilors and four residents.
Section 2. Notice of Meetings.
:a.) The dates of all public meetings shall be published a month prior to the time of a public meeting.
:b.) Notice shall include the date, time, and place of each meeting and a summary of the agenda.
Section 3. Meeting Agendas
Meeting agendas shall include all items to be discussed and/or presented to the residents for a vote. Any participant may raise and have discussed any additional item not previously on the agenda, but that item shall not be voted upon until the next public meeting.
Section 4. Minutes
Minutes shall be kept on file and summaries of actions taken shall be communicated to the Veil generally through the means available.

Article IX. Amendments and Charter Review
This charter may be amended by a majority vote of the participants at any bi-annual meeting of the Veil. However, written notice of the proposed amendment must be provided and published prior to the meeting.
The Veil Member Contract
Being a member of The Veil comes with a responsibility to the Veil and respect for the other members of The Veil, as this was constructed by Trade Federation members for Trade Federations members. For this we ask you to acknowledge our rules and guidelines, which are set to keep the peace.

The Council has set the ability to join The Veil as a 6 month reward privilege for Trade Federation members, and as such the Council asks that you do not purchase or construct a Space Station in The Veil if you have not been a member of the Trade Federation for an active period of 6 months. However with an unanimous vote of the Council, the required time can be reduced for an individual as special reward.

If you wish to sell your Space Station, we, the Council, have agreed that you MUST offer it to a member of the Veil for a reasonable price. If no one has accepted your offer, then after a period of 30 days the Council will make arrangements to purchase the station. Under no circumstances should the station be sold to anyone outside of residents and/or the Council of the Veil.

If you want to sell your ships or items which are located within The Veil, we ask that you move them to another location (We propose the Asrat system) as to keep The Veil uncluttered, please consider the other members of The Veil.
The Council asks you to assign a Council designated member of the Veil as Commander of all Military Stations, and Commander of any Station if you are leaving for an extended period. The Council also requests that you make over your stations if it is your intent to leave forever, so that other members of The Veil can still use the Space Station for its standard purpose.

Furthermore, the Council requires every member to assist in the Military Station Construction, to make the Veil a safer place. A 3:1 ratio of Civil to Military stations (Ataturk, Golan I or II) is currently in place to afford this protection, and the Council will accept monetary donations in place of construction for additional Military Stations, should a member not be able to construct a Military Station alone.

The members of the Veil fully accept the Council as the regulatory body for all matters of The Veil, and agrees to adhere to the principals of the Veil Charter.

When requesting a construction spot, you automatically accept the contract.

Section 4.
